How Is the Program Delivered?

The courses are delivered live and interactively (i.e., synchronous delivery) to the student's desktop computer via the World Wide Web. Synchronous classes will be available asynchronously (i.e. saved on a server) for a few days after synchronous delivery in order to accommodate students who must occasionally miss class. Software needed for synchronous delivery via the web will be supplied by The University of Tennessee, Department of Distance Education and Independent Study. Click here for more information about this exciting new live online technology.

The courses in the NCS certificate program are also available to local students on campus. NE 421, 571, and 581 are normally offered in the Fall semester, and NE 470, 543, and 582 are normally offered in the Spring semester, to both local and distance students. For students without a nuclear background, NE 301 is available by CD each Fall, Spring. Additional courses may be offered depending on demand and resources available for distance delivery. Likewise, some courses may be cancelled if demand is insufficient. Distance students are welcome to attend the corresponding local classes on campus whenever it is convenient. For more detailed and up-to-date schedule information for distance classes, see our Distance Education information. For the schedule of local classes, see the timetable of classes at Circle Park Online.
