How Is the Program Delivered?

The courses in the RME certificate program are delivered live and interactively (i.e., synchronous delivery) to the student's desktop computer via the World Wide Web. Synchronous classes will be available asynchronously (i.e. saved on a server) for a few days after synchronous delivery in order to accommodate students who must occasionally miss class. Software needed for synchronous delivery via the web will be supplied by The University of Tennessee, Division of Outreach and Continuing Education. More information about this exciting new CyberClass technology is available online at http://anywhere.tennessee.edu/cyberclass/.

Courses in the RME certificate program are also available to local students on campus. IE/ME/NE 483, IE 516, and ME 599 are normally offered in the Fall semester, and IE/ME/NE 484, IE 591, ME 534, and NE 585 are normally offered in the Spring semester, to both local and distance students. NE 579 is normally offered in the Summer to both local and distance students. Additional courses may be offered depending on demand and resources available for distance delivery. Likewise, some courses may be cancelled if demand is insufficient. Distance students are welcome to attend the corresponding local classes on campus whenever it is convenient. For more detailed and up-to-date schedule information for distance classes, see http://anywhere.tennessee.edu/. For the schedule of local classes, see the timetable of classes at http://www.utk.edu/academics/.
