The University of Tennessee Nuclear Engineering M.S. degree offered through distance education is designed for students who wish to pursue careers as nuclear professionals as traditional nuclear engineers, health physicists, or other areas related to nuclear and radiological engineering (e.g., as radiation safety officers). Applicants must have a B.S. degree in any engineering discipline, physics, or chemistry from an accredited institution with at least a 3.0/4.0 GPA. Applicants must also take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE).

Persons meeting admission criteria, but not seeking a degree, may also enroll in courses for continuing education and professional development as space allows. Students may begin the program in any semester after being advised on course selection by the department.
